
Taprite began in the mid 1940s in New Jersey as Tap-Rite, a supplier of beer
dispensing equipment. Among our main products were keg taps (to "tap
a barrel of beer right"), CO2 regulators and other dispensing equipment.
Our company expanded, grew into supplying regulators for the soft drink dispensing
markets, and remained family owned and operated until 1986.
Instrument Systems Corporation (known today as the Griffon Corporation) bought Tap-Rite in 1986 and merged it with another of its holdings, Standard-Keil, a manufacturer of foodservice hardware components. Under the name Standard-Keil/Tap-Rite we grew to become the beverage dispensing industry's largest supplier of CO2 regulators.
In 1997 a group of key executives from Standard-Keil/Tap-Rite and Fassco Manufacturing, Inc., of San Antonio, Texas bought Standard-Keil/Tap-Rite, and made it an independent company once again.
The Standard-Keil portion of the business was immediately
sold while the Tap-Rite segment was merged with Fassco, a manufacturer
of BIB racks, ice
chests, portable
